BERG in Icon #99

We’re happy to report the work of the studio is featured in Icon #99 out this month, with an eight page piece written by deputy editor Will Wiles.

It’s in an issue focussing on Artificial Intelligence that also has a great article by our friend James Bridle on the architecture and psychogeography of server farms…

My favourite thing is the picture of (nearly) all of us on the steps behind the studio…

The cover however, has deployed the latest in anti-theft technology, by featuring three exhausted, stubbly ne’er-do-wells staring out at you…

Blimey!

My check of two Barnes and Nobles in lower Manhattan (5th Ave and Union Square) turns up nothing. Just emailed Speedimpex, Icon’s distributor to find out if it’s actually here. Also asked at my local awesome artsy indie bookstore (Shakespeare) and they don’t actually control their own magazine stock, but get a big design-related shipment in once a month from their distributor. They have in the past gotten Icon but have no way of knowing if they will this month. I didn’t realize how complex magazine distribution was. Interesting.

Icon have a map of their stockists here — http://iconeye.com/index.php?option=com_branch&view=branches&Itemid=67

I’d be interested to know where it reaches in the US.

Will Wiles has written an excellent article. We’re privileged to be featured in the mag, and super pleased with the story he’s told!

I found ICON 97 in B&N in Union Square. They couldn’t tell me when 99 would be in stock, but said it would be – at some stage.

I saw it on a newsstand. I’ve no idea of the significance of this in the design world, but the fact that some people who write a blog I read are on a magazine is significant to me.
