The Experience Stack

At work, we’ve taken to using two-by-twos to describe archetypal situations in which the product and the person will encounter each other.

One axis describes the person, the other describes the situation.

So, for a recent project to do with mobile TV, one axis described the amount of attention the person has available, and the second axis described whether the environment was hurrying the person on or letting them sit and wait.

That gives us four different archetypal situations, and by imagining the product – in this case, mobile TV – in each, we could generate programme concepts.

Anyway, enough of that.

I want to show 3 more favourites before I wrap up.

The experience stack is a way of looking at the different contributing factors in experience design. This presentation highlights a number of products with good experiences and is called The Experience Stack. It was originally delivered in September 2007 at d.construct 2007.
