Botworld
This is a scene from the movie 2001 where Heywood Floyd, on his way to the moon, videocalls his daughter from a space station to say happy birthday. His daughter doesn’t really talk to him, but kind of squirms around in-front of the camera while he tries to have a serious conversation. If you’ve ever used Skype with little kids, it’s exactly like this. The incidental technology in 2001 is weirdly, weirdly accurate.
2001 is actually the first sci-fi I remember encountering. I was 6 and my dad was watching it on TV.
