This is Levittown, a new town built on Long Island in the United States in the late 40s and the 50s of last century.
In a way, it’s the archetypal small town. What made it possible – and cheap – is it’s the first use of assembly line processes in producing houses. The materials were cheap, the labour unskilled. But the design was good.
