Botworld
My third and briefest reminder is the point of this entire talk.
The future of artificial intelligence isn’t HAL. It’s much simpler, it’s Furby.
The future of robots isn’t flying air penguins. It’s much simpler, it’s Roomba.
And the future of these things isn’t really in the future at all. It in the Argos catalogue, today, and it’ll soon be in our homes, clever things chatting to us and chatting with each other.
It will feel as magical and as humdrum as a stuffed dog in a box talking to me on my mobile phone.
Apologies for the anticlimax, but Botworld is simple, mundane, and very close to being with us already.
