Here’s another.
The psychological implication of objects having intentions are interesting. A different bit of your brain activates when you believe something has a mind of your own.
When that happens, when you start imagining something has a mind, all other kinds of things happen. You imagine something has goals, ambitions, emotions, grudges.
Try this thought experiment.
Imagine that your kettle at home has a face and talks a bit like a Furby. And then it breaks, like all kettles eventually do.
Suddenly, instead of just replacing it, you’re in this weird mix of emotions. It’s not boiling so it’s letting you down so you’re annoying. Or you feel sorry for him. You’re going to have to make him redundant, and that’s really sad, so do you take him to kettle hospital or what?
