But both metaphors are good!

The story of the last few years has been finding out how to express web applications in terms of resources.

The synthesis of these two ideas is a new thing, something that people in this room already understand natively, a thing which doesn’t require metaphors beyond itself, and a thing which can’t be expressed in terms other than itself.

It’s been called Web 2.0, and one of the reasons I like this term is that it’s difficult to talk about—it’s a coming of age of the Web, where the Web is finally it’s own metaphor. That, for me, was 2007; the coming of age of the Web.

This presentation puts forward 'movement' as a metaphor for the Web, introduces the motivations flowchart design process, and demonstrates Snap, a way of syndicating interactions from websites to the desktop. It is called Movement and was originally delivered in February 2008 at Web Directions North 2008 in Vancouver.
